SCE, working with Optiwatt, ran Southern California Edison's BOLT Study in 2025 to simplify customer participation by allowing a diverse array of devices to be connected through a single program. Eligible devices included smart thermostats, residential batteries, and electric vehicles. Participants earned up to $625.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITHHere’s how to get started:
- Click below to download and install the Optiwatt managed charging app at no cost
- Open the app and enter your address, utility, and smart device information
- Select the SCE Bolt pilot and agree to the terms and conditions
- The app will learn your charging behaviors for two weeks, so use your devices as usual, after that two-week period the app will optimize your EV charging and thermostat use based on the parameters you select.
- Participants will be notified of upcoming events the day before, except in cases of CAISO emergencies.
- No Commitment: You can opt out or leave the program at any time without penalty
