Get a bill credit after 12 months

PG&E will issue a credit after 12 months for the difference between the Hourly Flex Pricing  and current plan costs.

How can Optiwatt guarantee that I’ll save money by joining this pilot?
Optiwatt will control your EV, charger, or thermostat to consume energy at the lowest-cost times without sacrificing your goals, like a scheduled departure time for your EV or the temperature in your home. If you end up spending more on this pilot program vs your current rate plan after 12 months, just send us your bill and we’ll credit you the difference within 14 days.

How might hourly prices vary?
Prices will vary based on market conditions, which will affect the price to supply electricity (generation prices) and the price to distribute electricity (distribution prices). Generally, prices are higher during the summer months (June through September) and lower during other times of the year.

How will this affect my charging schedule?
If you allow Optiwatt to control your car's charging schedule, we will look at hourly rates and charge during the cheapest times to save you money while hitting your desired departure time charge limit. You do not have to allow Optiwatt to control your EV charging to enroll in this program, but it will save you a lot of time. No looking up rates every hour to decide whether to charge!

Can I override Optiwatt?
Yes, if you need to start or stop your EV charging, you can do that immediately. Similarly, you can always change your thermostat settings immediately if you feel cold or hot.

How will this affect my smart thermostat schedule?
You do not have to allow Optiwatt to control your thermostat to enroll in this program. If you do, Optiwatt will ask you how much you'd be willing to change your thermostat to save money. When the time comes (for example, a hot summer day or cold winter morning), we'll automatically shift your thermostat by a small amount (for example, 1-2 degrees) to save you money.

Who's eligible for this pilot program?
PG&E customers who are on the E-ELEC or EV2-A rate plans are eligible for this pilot. If you're not on one of those rates, you must switch to one before applying for the program.
